Sugar Skull Craft for Everyone
![]() |
Sparkle-eyed sugar skull. |
In the video, I use two sugar skull forms with a piece of Dylusions enhanced scrapbook paper sandwiched between them; however, this craft can be completed just as easily with one sugar skull form. Rather than use scrapbook paper or cardstock, you could use construction or printer paper. While I chose to place the paper behind the sugar skull form, the wood surface makes an excellent collage substrate on which to build layers.
Though I chose to start the project by applying Daler-Rowney Acrylic Gesso to both sugar skulls, the gesso is not necessary. The Dylusions inks, paints, stains, Sharpie markers, alcohol inks, as well as a variety of other media can be applied directly to the bare wood with excellent results.
