The Video:
Though a working writer, not every story I write begins on paper. When the first threads of a new story came to mind as I began to work on this week's video, I immediately chose to capture the rough threads of the story while they were fresh and weave them into this storyboard.
Each element included on the storyboard, whether the two Victorian silhouettes or the shining circles which radiate from where the two characters meet, serve as notes on the story's base elements. The gears, dark colours, dictionary definitions for "magic" and "poison", and even the word "oddities" which has been placed between the two main characters reference the genre, atmosphere, preoccupations of each character, and their personalities, respectively.
Initially, a difference set of elements were selected to represent the characters:

I needed an image which divided the characters while binding them together as they are newly, and forcibly, acquainted at the story's outset. Though satisfied with the aesthetic of the original "Spells" and "Poison" elements, these two elements are better suited to a storyboard created after I know these characters a bit better.
The new character representatives were settled upon after I cycled through a number of possible representations.
